It's Happening!

Yes friends, it's happening. Common Threads of moving.

The building on Highway 965 & Zeller Street has been sold and Peg is moving to her home studio! What does this mean for the future of the quilting public you ask? Well, Peg is switching to semi-retirement mode but will continue to provide longarm quilting services and rentals. You can look for her to have more online sales and offer a few specialty classes, too.

Don't be nervous! You can STILL stop in and see what's going on, have a cup of coffee or just hang out.

And the best thing: The Sew-In is still a must! 2016 is already booked for the weekend of January 14-17!

Some things have not changed. For instance...
- Mary Ott is still the eternal employee-of-the-month.
- Just dropping in with a quilt or hiring us for a project is still socially acceptable (we do t-shirt and memory quilts).
- The phone number is still 319-626-3160
- Peg can also be reached through email or messaging on Facebook.

When one door closes, another opens.
The current plan is to close the store to retail May 4-21. There will be a sale May 22-23 from 9am-5pm both days. Gift certificates will still be honored. No need to panic. Use them now, or later. Peg is good for them!

Some of the items I will continue to sell are:
- 50 weight Aurifil thread
- Batting
- Longarm supplies (and more of them!)
- Fabric kits and patterns (online - information to follow)

I will also have the ability to host teachers for classes like I used to in the old days of Common Threads. Some of you may remember attending classes with Patrick Lose, Mark Lipinski, and Pam Clark. Liz Porter was also a special guest speaker in our archives!

Common Threads will have a better online presence with instructional videos and how-to's. Keep watching the blog for the exciting things to come! Make sure you subscribe with the link at the top of the home page so you don't miss out on any news.

I want to thank all of you for supporting this retail venture for the past 12 years. My business plan has been played out and now the dream continues at another capacity. I hope to see you all around for another decade!

May hours
May 1-2: Open regular store hours
May 4-21: Closed to retail. Appointments and quilt drop-off/pick-up only
May 22-23 from 9am-5pm: Final moving sale
May 24 from Noon-2pm: PARTY! Get information on the new location, see what Peg looks like in retirement mode and EAT CAKE!!!

REMINDER: You can still drop off quilts any time! There will NOT be a lapse in quilting services during this moving period. Peg has MANY minions and will continue to meet your deadlines!
