10th Annual Sew-In

January 22-25, 2015

It’s time, once again, for the ever-popular Sew-In January 22-25, 2015. We will be in the South Slope Community Center
   Thursday, 2pm-9pm
   Friday & Saturday 8am-10pm
   Sunday, 10am-3pm

A list of the things provided by Common Threads as well as things you might like to bring are below. Also listed are the menu, and some of the projects that we're planning for you!

Parking is available in the large lot to the side of the Community Center. You may pull up to the sidewalk to unload, but please move your vehicle to the lot when you are finished. The few parking places in front are for our staff who will be constantly coming and going to please you throughout the weekend. Please feel free to use the carts and wagons inside the front door to bring your things inside. You are also welcome to ask for help unloading if you are unable to do so yourself.

When you arrive, let your nose be your guide and lead you to the kitchen. You'll be checked in, receive a name tag, and be entered to win our door prize drawings.

Irons and ironing boards
Tables and chairs
Extension cords (but it is helpful to bring one of your own)
Cutting tables and mats

COMMON THREADS PROJECTS: (Mary always has a thing or two up her sleeve!)
MYSTERY QUILT KIT - available January 12th
Cost: $75 (includes 52"x64" quilt top, border and binding). It is always nice to cut your quilt ahead so all you have to do is sew!

PLEATED BAG KIT (pictured right) - available January 12th
Cost: $40 (includes leather handle, fusible fleece, lining and bag fabric)

Both projects are geared for the confident beginner and satisfy all levels of the sewing enthusiast.
We will also have kits available at the Sew-In. And as always, Mary will have other fast, easy projects available for your sewing pleasure.

GRAZING TABLE
It just wouldn't be Iowa without grazing! We will provide the place if you provide the treat. Bring your favorite cookies (Von) or just throw a bag of Cheetos out to share. If you think your treat is delicious, bring a recipe to share! This is completely optional!

HONED TO PERFECTION'S BRENNAN AND MARY will be available to sharpen your scissors, ($5-‐6) and knives ($2-4).  They will be in the parking lot on Friday and Saturday afternoon. They accept cash or check.

MASSAGE THERAPIST BILL is back Friday and Saturday evening for anything that ails you. $1.00 per minute. Sign up sheet starts when he arrives and he will stay until we are all cured.

If you have questions about anything, please call Peg at 319-626-3160. There is still a little room if you would like to sign up. The cost is $25/day or $100 for the weekend. There is a special rate of $75 if you have attended all 10 Sew-Ins.

The rate at the Sleep Inn just a few miles down the road is $65 for a room with two queen beds. Call 319-665-2700 to make your reservation.
